Serums and Oils and Creams OH YEAH
Here’s a round-up of some of my current face faves, in no particular order. All these goodies are IN STOCK at our brick-and-mortar JFB, located in Brooklyn, New York.
Kari Gran Essential Serum-
This baby definitely does not gets much attention as it deserves. I took this home a couple months ago and only started using it recently, and boy am I sorry. This silky, moisturizing post-toner oil is rich, absorbent and smells heavenly. It makes my skin feel super plump and absolutely silky smooth. Made of 15 plant and essential oils plus nourishing vitamin E, this stuff delivers nutrients deep into the skin while keeping its most outer later baby-butt smooth. It can be used morning an night, all over the face, neck, chest, and even around the eyes. An excellent all-purpose serum.
Kosmatology Lemongrass Face Moisturizer for Acne Prone/Oily/Rosacea Skin
Being that I currently own a store with tons of amazing products, I am constantly switching around the things I use on a daily basis. I do so usually based on what’s closest to me at the moment, but occasionally there is a method to my madness. On top of always maintaining a 3-step (at least) morning and night skincare routine, I also receive monthly facials to extract some under the skin clogs. As a teen, I was diagnosed with Keratosis Pilaris, which I was told would never go away (cue my disdain of doctors). It did, thanks to a bunch of things, one of them being my tough cookie facialist… who chastised me a couple months ago for using too heavy of a facial balm which caused major oil build up that she had to handle. It wasn’t pretty. So, I took this stuff home and never looked back.
This is an oil formulated specifically for people with oily skin (*inception*).
Made with lemongrass oil for its astringent properties, rosemary oil for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, and lavender for oil control. Its what I’d call a dry oil, meaning it doesn’t leave my face greasy at all, just quenched and clean. The scent is a very natural and light lemongrass, which you have to like in order to handle putting this all over your face.
Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream-
Since we’re being honest, I truly disliked this product for a pretty long while. But being that nontoxic face lotion is so hard to come by, and this was basically the only one we carried at the time, I had no choice but to try it. My first impression was that it was too thin and not creamy enough- it didn’t give me that fluffy, Mrs. Doubtfire-smash-your-face-in-a-cake type feel.
After using it a couple of times, I came to very much enjoy its light botanical scent, plus the fact that I was protecting my skin with a high-quality, non-nano broad-spectrum SPF via zinc oxide without looking like Casper. Josh Rosebrook products are of TOP NOTCH quality– the ingredient list looks like a farmer’s market shopping list. This moisturizer is made with herbal actives and plant oils, which not only nourish and protect the skin, but also repair it on a cellular level. Applied properly by patting (see our latest Instagram video, this cream dries matte and smooth, and is fit for every skin type.
